2013 PGO Cevennes Release date, Specs, Price, Pictures |
While it offered little in the way of details at that time, it has finally given us new details and photos of the exclusive sports roadster. And what it shows us is a car that looks more like it is ready to tackle the streets of the globe rather than sit in a design studio as a concept.
For what its worth, the company has indeed come a long way since it returned in 2005 after Al Sayer International acquired the fledgling coachbuilder. The company was actually born in the 1980s and started off by building replicas of classic European sports cars, namely Porsches.
But with the financial backing provided by Al Sayer International, PGO has evolved into having multiple models to its name, including the Cevennes Water Snake Concept.
Price :
No word yet on how much the car is going to cost. Rest assured, well have all the updates when they become available.
Interior :
With its retro looks, the Cevennes Water Snake Concept has an interior that matches the advertisement. Leather looks to be pre-dominantly used, particularly on the upholstery, the dash and the flat-bottom steering wheel.
The classic look of the material matches well with the more modern carbon-fiber trim and the use of metallic accents that we can only assume were put there to add more glam to the interior.
Finally, theres also a Pioneer infotainment system, which is always a good idea these days for cars. Not the Pioneer part, although having a reputable brand helps. Were talking about the infotainment system part.
Exterior :
The Cevennes Water Snake Concept has been dressed in a fine blue carbon finish that, to be honest, looks pretty hot. On top of that, PGO also built a new sports body kit to give the concept a more aggressive stance than the standard Cevennes.
The angular headlights are distinguished by LED daytime running lights and the French automaker capped it off by installing a set of 18-inch aluminum wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.
Granted, thats not much in the way of exterior upgrades from the standard Cevennes, but where it lacked in quantity, it more than made up for in quality.
Performance :
After announcing the signature for a supply contract with BMW Group on February 29th, 2012, PGO Automobiles revealed the characteristics of its new engine that combines performance and high technology. This engine reaffirms, once more, PGO Automobiles desire to offer cars of exception equipped with a state-of-the-art technology engine that meets the brands standards, in particular for the reduction of CO2 emissions and high performance.
Descending from a line of engines with the latest advanced technology; it offers high performance in terms of power, torque, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This turbocharged engine of 1.61 L is notably equipped with variable valve lift and direct injection.
This new BMW Group engine has been awarded the title of "Best Engine of The Year" four years in a row. It permits less volume displacement, in line with the downsizing trend, to answer some of the environmental issues.

Competition :
The Wiesmann MF5 Roadster is far superior to the Cevennes Water Snake Concept when it comes to performance credentials. For the record, the former is powered by a BMW M5-sourced 5.0-liter V-10 that produces 507 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to rocket from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds on its way to reaching a top speed of 192 mph.
But its also likely to be more than just an expensive purchase. The Cevennes Water Snake Concept hasnt been priced yet, but we expect it to be more affordable than 189,500 ($250,000) price tag of the MF5 Roadster.
