2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible R Line Review, Price, Interior, Exterior, Engine. - The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible R-Line has just debuted at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show and with this, the model sets itself open for available purchase of the car in Chicago as the 2014 model of the Beetle Convertible R-Line.
The Volkswagen spokesmen said that this has been their long time plan to debut the 2014 model of Beetle in Chicago and make it available for the Chicago VW enthusiasts. However, the fans may have a mixed reaction because although the car has been debuted officially, the official selling of the model in Chicago will not begin before later this year so it means the fans will still have to wait quite a while to get their hands on this elegant piece of work from VW.
Exterior
Parts of the exterior package are:
>. Front bumpers with independent black grained air inlets and chrome surrounds for the directional indicators.
>. Diffuser at the rear.
>. Special body side panels and door mirror housings in body colour.
>. R-Line logos on the front body beneath the A-pillars.
>. 18-inch “Twister” alloy wheels.
>. Machine-polished 19-inch “Tornado” alloy wheels may be selected as an option in black or white with 235/40 tyres.
Interior
The R-Line interior package includes:
>. Sport seat system with seats upholstered with an active-breathing fabric in “Kyalami” design.
>. Front head restraints with R-Line badge.
>. Leather-trimmed sport steering wheel, the gear shift lever boot and the handbrake grip with decorative seams in “Art Grey”.
>. Decorative inlays in “Dark Vanadium”.
Engine
The 2014 Volkswagen Beetle is available in three trim levels distinguished by engine: base (1.8-liter turbo), TDI (diesel) and R-Line (2-liter turbo). Each trim has a few different optional packages that we’ll explain below.
The Beetle R-Line features a new 2-liter turbocharged gasoline 4-cylinder that cranks out a healthy 210 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque. The DSG transmission returns 24 mpg city/30 mpg hwy, an increase of 2 city mpg over last year; expect roughly the same from the 6-speed manual. The coupe-only, limited-edition GSR shares the R-Line’s powertrain options.
